After WW2 in Europe was over Japan was still waging war. Nagasaki and Hiroshima are the Japanese cities on each of which an atomic bomb was dropped by the USAF. Thus ending WW2
It was the second time the world was in war and the US entered the war and fought the japanese for almost 5 years. When the atomic bombs were developed, one was dropped over Hiroshima.
Try the Hiroshima sites, they might give some leads, e.g. "Atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki."
The second atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, Japan. It was two days after the first one on Hiroshima. It was done to convince the Imperial Japanese army that surrender was their only option. Otherwise they would have fought to the death and millions of Japanese and Americans would have died in the invasion of Japan.
They had to suffer and even doubt they fought and lived.
No many people. Nagasaki receive one bomb and that was it. It was dropped by bomber plane and it was an atomic bomb.
The Allies and Russia overwelming Berlin and Germany as a whole, led to Hitler's suicide and, though some die-hard Nazis' fought on for a while, Germany had to finally capitulate and accept unconditional surrender. So ended the European war. The American bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki with nuclear bombs, finally made the Japanese capitulate and accept unconditional surrender. So ended the war in Asia. Let's hope we never have to use such a weapon in earnest again.
The bombs were dropped by 2 airplanes of the United States Army Air Corps.
Japanese bombed US in the attack at Pearl Harbor causing US to declare war on Japan and using the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
There was effectively no "fighting" involved in the bombings. By that point, the US had pretty much total air superiority and could bomb anywhere in Japan more or less at will.
Japan fought in the pacific theater in early ww2, until the attack of pearl harbour when efforts were focused on the australians and americans. The US atom bombed Nagasaki and Hiroshima in the final weeks of the war, which was the first use of nuclear weapons in human history, the bombs used Uranium (u-235 isotopes).
