"God Bless America" is an American patriotic song written by Irving Berlin in 1918 and revised by him in 1938. Berlin became embarrassed by the amount of money he was making from such a patriotic song. He established the God Bless America Fund in 1940 to redistribute the royalties for this and 17 other songs to the Boy Scouts of America, the Girl Scouts of the USA and the Camp Fire Girls (now Camp Fire USA).
The first trustees were Gene Tunney (world heavyweight boxing champion who defeated Jack Dempsey twice), Theodore Roosevelt, Jr. (politician, general, Medal of Honor winner) and Herbert B. Swope (editor, journalist, Pulitzer Prize winner).
The BSA used the funds to establish Less Chance Scouting to promote Scouting for inner-city youth, blacks, American Indians and immigrants.

Yes
Irving Berlin's "God Bless America" gives royalties to both the boy and girl scout organizations with funds currently going to youth in New York City.
I don't think they do. Everyone pays royalties, no exceptions. Even your local public grade school is responsible for paying royalties for songs that they use (tho' i'd hope they forget to send in that check).
you have to register them with a publishing company , who will collect royalties and protect the copyright
Yes. Any venue that plays music is probably playing copyrighted music and has to pay royalties to ASCAP/BMI. http://www.knowthemusicbiz.com/index.php/BIZ-WIKI/Licensing-&-Royalties/Public-Performance-Royalties-and-Licenses.html
Most of the royalty of Europe attended the wedding. After independence, there was no royalty in US society.
The Song God Bless America was written by Irving Berlin and was "shelved" for 20 years. Kate Jackson asked Berlin for a song to sing and he gave it to her with the understanding he did not want money for the song. God helped him write it. He asked that the proceeds of the song go to the Boy Scouts of America.
Scouts. You get way more experience of friendship, team building, life challenges and fun out of scouts, that is if you like the outdoors and practical work. If not, then your best bet is singing. But hey, you sing plenty of songs at scouts so its the best of both worlds really.
No. Once any song is published it can be covered by anyone for free. The money comes into it through royalties. The writers of the song have to be credited, then each time the song is sold or played, a royalty is paid to the writer. Because Metallica write all their songs they ge Save t the royalties.

It varies considerably based on the popularity of his or her songs, and any agreements with agents, publishers, and record labels.
