Trifle

Trifle is not baked.It consists of slices of sponge cake sprinkled with wine or liqueur, custard and cream. Jelly and fruit are sometimes added but not by purists.
As far as I know, it is called a Trifle.
You certainly could substitute angel food cake for sponge cake in a trifle, as long as you understand that the resulting trifle will taste somewhat different. The result probably will be delicious, although not quite the same as a traditional trifle.
