Centimeters- Metric System

In the US, it's feet and inches -distance from the ground, and distance from the street are key elements to the legal and proper placement of your mailbox. Furthermore, rented Postal Boxes at the Post Office are measured in inches, i.e; 3X5, 5X7, etc.

What customary unit would you use to measure the distance of your door to the mailbox?

If the mailbox is in front of your house you probably want to use feet (assuming you are in the USA) If it is at the post office you should probably use miles, lol :)

Which unit would you use to measure the lenght of a mailbox?

I would use a ruler. After I had completed the measurement, I could describe my findings in any unit of length, but inches or centimeters would most likely produce the most convenient number.
