Well one could argue either way. It is true that a 'house divided against it's self cannot stand' but you must ask yourself, "would Rome have fallen without the threat of invasions?" The fact is that political Rome was vary rarely stable and had made it through some very rough patches in the past. Although the splitting of the Empire by the Romans did not help Rome's situation in the end if all of the trouble had came from internal sources the city as a power would have probably survived as it would most likely remain under Roman control. So yes internal problems were part of the reason but as a power Rome would have probably endured longer without the invasions. So i short invasions were 'more' responsible for the actual fall of Rome.
Rome fell because of political problems and disloyalty.

No one. Rome collapsed over a period of many decades, making it unable to maintain its colonies. Between 376 and 395 CE, an already weakened Rome suffered invasions and internal battles. By the beginning of the 5th century CE, there were revolts; Rome was besieged by the Visigoths, and there was starvation in Italy.
The invaders who destroyed Rome were the Barbarians :) This was history homework in St. Helena :)
The western part of the Roman Empire fell under the strain of the invasions. The eastern part of this empire was not affected by these invasions and continued to exist for nearly 1000 years.
