The NORTH Vietnamese people fought back with: 1. SAM's (Surface to Air Missiles) & conventional AAA (Anti-Aircraft Artillery). 2. MIG-17, MIG-19 (Red Chinese J-6 versions), and MIG-21 jet intercepters. 3. PT-76 Amphibious Light Tanks and T-54/T-55 Medium Tanks. 4. 122mm Rockets, a wide assortment of conventional Field Artillery, to include Mortars, and heavy machine guns (.51 caliber), and CHICOM hand grenades (stick grenades that looked like WW2 German potatoe masher hand grenades). CHICOM stood for "Chinese Communists." 5. RPD drum fed machineguns, SKS semi-automatic carbines, K-54 semi-automatic handguns (pistols), and AK-47 Assault Rifles. The SOUTH Vietnamese people fought back with: 1. A-1 Skyraider propeller driven airplanes (see film:" Rescue Dawn" to see what a Skyraider looks like) & F-5 Freedom fighter jet airplanes. 2. M-41 Walker Bulldog light tanks, and later M48 Patton medium tanks; and a large assortment of Field Artillery. The ARVN (South Viet Army) was armed with US small arms (M16 assault rifles, WW2 M1 Carbines, etc.). The US/Allies were armed with: 1. Jets: F-100 Supersabres, F-101 Voodoos, F-102 Delta Daggers (President Bush's jet), F-104 Starfighters, F-105 Thunderchiefs, A-4 Skyhawks (Senator McCain's jet), A-6 Intruders (film: Flight of the Intruder), A-7 Corsairs II's, F-8 Crusaders (film: History Channel; Dog-Fight Series/The Last Gunfighter), and F-4 Phantoms (our last US Ace's of the 20th century). 2. Bombers used were: B-57 Canberra Bomber and the B-52 High Altitude Stratofortress Strategic Air Command (SAC) bomber. 3. Warships: Battleship USS New Jersey (16 inch guns), Cruisers (8 & 6 inch guns), and Destroyers (5 inch guns), and Aircraft Carriers which launched Intruders, Corsairs, Phantoms, Crusaders, and A-1 propeller driven Skyraiders. 4. Riverine Force: Swift Boats (PCF-Patrol Craft Fast; all aluminum 50 footers); PBR (Patrol Boat River; all fiberglass 32 footers); Alpha Boats (ASPB-Assault Support Patrol Boats, all steel construction); and River Monitors (steel river battleships). 5. Land Forces used: M-48 Patton medium tanks, M-551 Sheridan Armored Airborne Reconaissance Assault Vehicles, known today as light tanks, M-50 Ontos, M-42 Dusters, M-8 Scorpion, M-113 ACAV/APC (Armored Cavalry Assault Vehicle/Armored Personnel Carrier), Gun Trucks, V-100 Armored Cars, and a very wide assortment of field artillery, to include SPG (Self Propelled Guns); mortars, machine guns, etc.

the Vietnamese people invented booby traps ( used by many hunters still to this day.) they also introduce Vietnamese cuisines to the french people, as a result, theres a lot of french style foods with Asian influences.
There are about 7000 Vietnamese people living in the Triad (Greensboro-High Point-Winston Salem). There is also a large number of Hmong people who speak Vietnamese. They used to live in mountainous regions of Northern Vietnam.
