It is my understanding that an adapter must be installed under the back of the truck in line with the wiring. This allows a common four wire trailer plug to work properly. Just about any local auto parts store will have the right adapter for your vehicle.

Hey Ray==I presume the fuse is blown is why you think there is a short. You have to examine the wiring to find where the wire is shorted out. If you have a trailer harness, start there. If the vehicle has been wrecked. look there as body men have a habit of pinching wires in the repair. If not, you just have to follow the wiring harness and find out where it is. Goodluck, Joe
The red wire is the positive wire. The yellow and green wires are the speaker wires. The brown or black wire is the ground wire. The white wire is and auxiliary wire.

its a Nissan for starters but it could be the plug wires or the plugs or the distributor
