Ironwood (Ipe - pronounced "ee-pay") is harder by almost 2x than Hickory.

According to the Janka test, Teak scores 1000, Hickory scores 1820, Ipe scores 3680.

Ipe is also much denser than many other woods, in lbs/ft3, Ipe is around 66 pounds, compared with Oak's 43, and Teak's 40.

Cherry wood, along with all fruit woods, is a hardwood. Cherry has been very popular through the years for furniture making, as it is quite sturdy and very attractive when finished.

black cherry is rated 950 and and pecan hickory is rated 1280 on the Janka hardness scale, so hickory would be twice as hard.
