This light of course is used to indicate a problem with the braking system. Depending on its sensitivity, it could simply mean that your break pads are wearing thin, you can check this by removing your front tire and checking the condition, thickness of the pads on either side. they should for optimal stopping capabilities, be about 3/8 to 3/4 of an inch thick, any thinner would indicate that they should be replaced soon. otherwise, this light coming on could be something that will need your immediate attention, for example, checking the brake fluid in your master cylinder. there will be a line which will indicate the proper fluid level. if your fluid is down even a very little bit, you could either have a leak in your brake line, or your master cylinder may be failing. these two possiblities are dangerous and need to be corrected as soon as possible. But before taking your car to the shop refill the master cylinder with brake fluid, if it is low, and drive the car carefully for one or two days and re-check the fluid, if you find that it is down again, the vehicle needs servicing. you may want to periodically look under your car, where you park, near the inside of all four wheels to see if your brake lines have a possible leak. Good luck
