The above answer is wrong. The mother of Queen Elizabeth I of England was a woman called Anne Boleyn, the second of King Henry VIII's six wives. Anne was executed on May 19, 1536 on charges of incest, adultery, and treason when Elizabeth was not quite three years old.

Anne of CLEAVES was the fourth of Henry's wives. She was the "ugly horse" from Germany who Henry never had sex with and divorced after six months. Anne remained in England, and was given the title of "the King's Beloved Sister"; she died in 1557, a year before her step-daughter Elizabeth became Queen.
