In Mark 10:37, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who are nicknamed "Boanerges," or "sons of thunder" (Mark 3:17), asked Jesus that they could sit on his left and right hand in the kingdom of heaven. This is a most particularly strange request, especially so early in Mark's Gospel.

Dennis R MacDonald (The Homeric Epics and the Gospel of Mark) suggests a Homeric parallel to another pair of brothers, the Dioscuri, sons of the god Zeus. Zeus is often associated with thunder, and his sons are depicted iconographically as on the right and left of Zeus, just like James' and John's request to sit at the right and left of Jesus.

what is the holy orders relation to the life and ministry of jesus christ?

A Sacrament Instituted by Christ. The ministerial priesthood was established by Jesus when he asked his apostles to continue the ministries that he began. On Holy Thursday night when Jesus instituted the Eucharist, he told his apostles, “Do this in memory of me”. When the risen Jesus appeared to the apostles, Jesus said, “As the Father has sent me, so I send you”, and to equip them for their commissioning, Jesus breathed on them and said, “Receive the holy Spirit”. Before Jesus ascended to heaven, he instructed the apostles, “Go, make disciples of all nations. Baptize them. Teach them”. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, asked Peter to continue his shepherding duties when he said, “Feed my lambs, tend my sheep”. Jesus’ final words of instruction to his apostles were, “You will be my witnesses … to the ends of the earth”

One of the thieves who was crucified with Him. The first thief goaded Jesus saying that if he was 'the Son of God' he could save both himself and them. However the second thief recognised Jesus' innocence and his own guilt and asked Jesus to remember him when he came into his kingdom. As a result of his turning to Christ, Jesus then promised that that very day the thief would be with him, in paradise.

How long has the Catholic Church believed in the Real Presence?

Since its inception. The belief first came from the Apostles on the night of our Lord's Last Supper (Holy Thursday) when our Lord Jesus Christ turned bread into His Body and wine into His Most Precious Blood. After Jesus died, rose, and ascended into Heaven the Apostles institutionalized the Church in the Acts of the Apostles. From there, they did as Christ asked them to repeat at the Last Supper.

Who was Jesus trying to save on the water?

There are two incidents that stand out involving Jesus saving someone and being on water. One was when the apostle Peter stepped out of the boat to walk to Jesus. As he walked, he took his eyes off Jesus and lost the faith he had that led him to step out in the first place. This story is in the gospels. The second takes place as the apostles were crossing the sea of Galilee in boats and a storm came up suddenly. Jesus was asleep in one of the boats, and when it seemed the boats were about to capsize, the apostles woke Jesus up and asked Him to save them, which He did. This story is also in the gospels.
