Tarzan novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs are classified by some bibliophiles ( and book stores) as Science fiction. Frankenstein, as it deals with artificially re-animated life, might be termed Occult science fiction. There were some straight writers such as Robert Louis Stevenson ( Treasure Island( who did ONE science fiction opus- in his case Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. This does not make Stevenson a science-fiction writer of the caliber of Verne, in my opinion.
There are a great many things that scientists and Science Fiction writers have been talking about. Some of the topics are space travel and life on other planets. Some speculate this life on other planets would be kind, others feel that this life would see us as food.
Some people consider Jules Verne the father of science fiction and Mary Shelley the mother of science fiction. Some even say that Gilgamesh was the first science fiction book.
actually helpful, imagine one of these things the size of even a small crane, though, some science fiction writers have!
Writers write what is interesting to them. Science fiction writers wonder - constantly wonder - about the universe. Is there life on other worlds or are we all alone? What would life be like if we had two suns? How would a culture evolve if the dinosaurs had not died off? What will people in the future be like? Science fiction stories are stories of "why?" and "what if?"Science fiction is the most important literature in the history of the world, because it's the history of ideas, the history of our civilization birthing itself. ...Science fiction is central to everything we've ever done, and people who make fun of science fiction writers don't know what they're talking about.Ray Bradbury
Some would say that science fiction excludes fantasy but Arthur C. Clarke said, "Any significantly advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Science fiction authors have mixed science fiction with all other forms of literature. There are science fiction lyrics to songs, science fiction poetry, science fiction mixed with humor, science fiction mixed with westerns, science fiction mixed with romance.
Jules Verne can be considered as a Science Fiction writer. Some other René Barjavel Gérard Klein (aka Gilles d'Argyre) But there is no famous SF french writers such as Ray Bradbury, A.C Clark, Franck Herbert or Issac Assimov What a pity.
The Giant Amoeba seems to be the figment of a number of science fiction writers. It would be amorphous ( no definite shape or form) and might resemble some weird cloud formation. The idea has been scouted by the science fiction writers. If something like that existed, it might survive on various pollutants in the atmosphere and might be constructive ecologically. I"ll say this, the idea is wild but not out of the boundaries of biological science.
Science fiction is a literary genre under fantasy. In some libraries, all fiction including science fiction are filed by the author's last name. In others, they separate science fiction books and put stickers on them with a rocket ship or an alien.
