Phillip Pullman (author of "Golden Compass") and Charles Darwin
Contrary to the above, Darwin was a God-fearing Christian all of his life and died as such. The publication of 'An Origin of Species' is prefaced by Darwin's admission that God was and still is the Creator. There are many philosophers, however, who attempt to think through the meaning of life wihout the idea of God in it. Notably these include Nietzsche (who claimed 'God is dead') and Bertrand Russell. Richard Dawkins goes out of his way to mock God, and anyone who is 'foolish enough' to believe in Him. In fact his campaign is quite unhealthy in its venom against all religions. In addition to these there are many who either mock God, or do not accept him as their Creator and as a God who loves them unconditionally.
These include Polly Toynbee (UK Journalist), Douglas Adams (author Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy), Terry Pratchett, Isaac Asimov and Arthur C Clarke (Sci Fi writers), singer Bjork, David Cronenberg (film/movie director), Einstein and many others.
One should never, however, judge these people but, where possible (ie if they are still alive) one should pray for them that they may also know the love of God in their lives.
Nothing happened to them, because 'god' doesn't exist. Grow up. Fairy Tales aren't real. <--- I think you need to be the one doing the growing up.... And yes there are some history of people dying of those who mocked God. Ex John Lennon
