Dr. Robert Chandler was born in the month of February about 1760 or 1761 in possibly Woodstock, Windham County, Connecticut, and died in 1831 in Gibson, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. He served in the Revolutionary War and subsequently became a physician, probably by means of an internship of seven years' duration under a practicing doctor. He was said to have been a surgeon in the War of 1812. He practiced for a time in Dutchess County, New York, before moving to Pennsylvania.
