Arabs were not attacked in World War I, they rose up against the occupying Ottoman Empire. They attacked the Ottomans, who of course, retaliated. The British and French promised the Arabs that if they joined with the Allies against the Ottomans, that they would be compensated with an Arab State over all of the Middle East. Suffice it to say that they Arabs were not compensated in that way.
