The line of succession continues with the Cabinet, beginning with the Secretary of State. As of March, 2009, the US Secretary of State is former First Lady and Presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Following the presidential line of succesion, the Secretary of State becomes President, and after that, the Secretary of the Treasury.
He is then allowed to appoint a Vice President.
The Speaker of the House is an office in the House of Representatives. The Speaker is the leader of the House. The leader of the Senate is the President Pro Tempore.
The US presidential line of succession is as follows. After president it is Vice President, or Speaker of House, or President pro tempore of the Senate, or Secretary of State, or Secretary of treasury, secretary of defense, or Attorney General in that order.
The official titles of each presiding officer is: The Senate: Vice President The House of Representatives: Speaker of the House. When the VP is not available, they have a person who is called the President Pro Tempore.
To become the President you must be either: * The President-Elect. * The Vice President when the President dies. * The Speaker of the House when the President and Vice President die, * The President Pro Tempore of the Senate when the President, Vice President and Speaker of the House dies. * The Secretary of State when the President, Vice President, Speaker of the House and President Pro Tempore of the Senate dies. * etc.
President pro tempore of the Senate becomes President.
The Speaker of the House would never become President Pro Tempore, as that is an office within the Senate.
The President pro tempore of the Senate is the next in line of succession after the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The President pro tempore of the Senate becomes the President. He/she is the leader of the Senate when the vice president can not attend. If him/her dies also then the Secretary of State becomes President.
The Speaker of the House is the leader of the House of Representatives. The President of the Senate (who is also the Vice President) is the leader of the Senate.
PresidentIf both the president and vice-president are unable to complete the term, the Speaker of the House of Representatives becomes president. If the Speaker of the House cannot complete the term, the President pre tempore of the Senate becomes president, and the list of successors then goes to the Secretary of State and Cabinet members. speaker of house Nancy pelosi
Speaker of the House: Nancy Pelosi (D) President of the Senate (Vice President): None
The succession of Presidency: 1.President 2.Vice-President 3. Senate President 4. Speaker of the House
He is then allowed to appoint a Vice President.
If the President of the United States is removed from office, the Vice President immediately becomes the new President. Then, the Speaker of the House of Representatives becomes the President if the Vice President is unable to assume the role. The President Pro Tempore of the Senate would be next in line if both the Vice President and the Speaker of the House are unable to take on the presidency.
The Speaker of the House is an office in the House of Representatives. The Speaker is the leader of the House. The leader of the Senate is the President Pro Tempore.
Assuming the President, Vice-President, Speaker of the House, and President Pro Tempore of the Senate are all dead the next in line for the Presidency would be the Secretary of State (Currently Hillary Rodham Clinton)
