It should, yes. However, you should check all three credit reports annually (which you can do for free) to make sure the reporting is fair and accurate. Many times it's not. If that's the case, fill out a dispute form with the bureau(s) incoorectly reporting the information.
The credit repair industry is regulated by the Credit Repair Organizations Act, which is an amendment/addition to the Consumer Credit Protection Act. There are many activies which are illegal under this statute. Why not read the text yourself at http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/croa/croa.htm It is always best to have an understanding of the laws yourself than to rely on someone else's opinion. NO it is NOT illegal to remove accurate information form ones credit file- if you read the NEW Fair credit and reporting act it clearly states " a credit reporting agency is not required to remove accurate information from a consumers file.." Notice it doesnt not say "CANT". it says "not required"

You can dispute anything on your credit report with the major reporting agencies Equifax; transunion and Experian. You can go online and do an electronic consumer dispute form.
Your first step is to dispute it with Experian. There's a form or online page they will provide and it really shoudln't be done over the phone. You want documentation. If you have documentation that proves the information incorrect, send copies to them. If not, they must stop reporting the information until they verify it as true. If they can't, they have to remove it. This is covered under the Federal law known as the Fair Credit Reporting Act. If you follow all the right steps and still have trouble, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, which oversees the credit bureaus.
The credit reporting companies have a dispute form that you can use to dispute anything that is wrong on your credit report. Ask for this form or send a letter detailing the information in your report and explain why it is incorrect. They will investigate the matter and send you their findings. If it is incorrect they will remove it from your report.
Each credit reporting agency has their own form to request a credit report which you can find on their website. Each person is entitled to at least 1 free credit report per year per agency with some states allowing more. The Federal Trade Commission offers free forms to request a credit report.
Credit score reports can be obtained using an online service that collects your credit score information from various resources after you input your valid data. Companies that provide such service are Experian, Equifax and CheckMyFile.
Equifax.com allows you to check all three of the reporting credit agencies. Many banks use this system to check your report for loans. All you have to do is fill out a simple form and it instantly shows you the length of your credit history, payments made and what your scores are.
where do i get the form for the this credit
One thing you can do it contact the credit reporting agency that is showing it andtell them you want to dispute it. They have a number of days, 90I think, to send you a form and follow up.
If the attorney's office reports to any of the credit reporting agencies, because the have a lic. to do so for collections then yes! but if they do not they most likely will just take you to court for a judgenment . that for sure will go on your credit report
