Transmission towers are built by a couple of different people or groups. Site Acquisitionists might work for a wireless provider like AT&T or Verizon, or may be part of a tower company like Crown Castle or American Tower. When a site is found, an agreement worked out with the land owner, and it is zoned and permitted, the group will either hire a contractor team or use an in-house team to install the tower.
Towers are prefabricated, in sections, by tower manufacturing companies like ROHN and Sabre Industries. They're then transported to the site for assembly.
