In 1771 the foundations of what is now known as america's oldest funeral service began. A furniture maker was adding the manufacture of coffins to his trade, but in 1777 he entered into full production as a result of the "Germantown war" between the Loyalists and the Revolutionaries who together lost 1150 men that day on the Germantown Field in Pennsylvania.

Kirk and Kirk are the principles of the business today, after it being handed down through the centuries. It is a well known, well respected business, serving the broader Pennsylvania communities.
