The first full sized steam locomotive built by Mr Richard Trevithick was never actually named. The locomotive was built in Penydarren near Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales. Its first route was between Merthyr Tydfil and Abercynon on on 21 February 1804. The route used a tramway for the test run. There is a replica of the Loco sited near to its original starting point in the town to this day.
