Siddhartha Gautama created Buddhism. He was a wealthy prince who was born around 563 BC. When he was traveling outside of the palace walls he saw many people who were ill, homeless and suffering. He invented Buddhism to teach people that to find the truth about the world they had to give up all desires.

Tibetan Buddhism dates back to the time of king Trison Detsen. The king invited great masters from India to come to Tibet and introduce Buddhism. These great masters were Shantarakshita, Vimalamitra and Guru Padmasambhava.

Tibetans see Guru Padamsambhava as the founder of Tibetan Buddhism (and they also see him as the second Buddha).

The Buddhist founder is called Siddhārtha Gautama, or known as the Buddha

Siddhārtha Gautama also known as Buddha Shakyamuni, born in Lumbini founded Budhism.

While the obvious answer is "Buddha" (real name Siddhartha Gautama Shakyamuni), the story of Buddhism, or any religion, seldom starts and ends with just one person. The Buddha left no writings, so it was up to his followers to compile their recollections of his teachings (which became the sacred scriptures of Buddhism), as well as deciding upon the rituals, hymns, beliefs, and practices to honor the Buddha. Several hundred years after his death, believers also created religious councils to codify the Buddha's teachings and make sure they would be passed on to the next generation of Buddhists.
