What was the effect when The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk was signed?

Germany had armies fighting in Russia when the treaty was signed. By ending the war there, Germany was able to move most of those armies to France to bolster those already fighting there. It would've granted large amounts of territory to the Central Powers, but the later treaty of Versailles forced them to repudiate the treaty.
