In Genesis 17:19-21 God promises Moses that he will bless Ishmail and
make him the father of twelve rulers and into a great nation.

==========================

Answer #2:

Whoops!

-- Moses never appears in Genesis. That conversation was with Abraham.

-- If you back up a little way in the same chapter, practically on the same page,
back to Verses 4, 5, and 6, what Abraham actually heard first was:
" ... this is my covenant with you: You shall be a father of a multitude
of nations. Your name shall be called Abraham, for I have made you
the father of a multitude of nations. I will make you most exceedingly
fruitful, and make nations of you. And kings shall descend from you."
... ... ...
"As for Sarah your wife, I will bless her. I will give you a son through her ...
and she will give rise to nations. Kings of peoples will rise from her."
That's when Abraham says "That'll never work. Sarah is old and I'm even older.
Don't get carried away. We already have Ishmael. Have you considered him, lord."

And the Manager replies: Are you listening to me, Abraham?
"Your wife Sarah will bear you a son and I will fulfill my covenant
with him."

But since you've put in a good word for Ishmael, I'm willing to
go along with you.
And THAT's where we come to
"I will make him fruitful, and will increase him most exceedingly. He will
beget twelve princes and I will make him into a great nation.

BUT I will maintain my covenant through Isaac whom Sarah will bear to you ..."
If you're going to quote something, at least take a moment to look around it. Make
sure that you're not about to lift something out of context and flip it 180. OK ?

Why does Abraham chose to be the father of all nations?

Abraham did not choose to become the father of all nations himself; when he turned 99 God had given him that name.

Why was God unable to fulfill His promise to the Israelites that he will cast out many nations that goes against the Isrealites Deuteronomy 7 v1?

The premise behind the question is totally false, since the promise of God was conditional upon certain actions of the Israelites. The nations are mentioned, seven in all, by name, in the latter part of the verse. God was well able to keep His part of the bargain, and fulfil His promise to the letter. The Israelites, however, did not meet all the requirements of this conditional promise of God. Thus, they could then not drive out the inhabitants of the land. Thus, the trouble was not God's inability but the Israelites' disobedience.

What was God promising by changing Abram to Abraham?

He promise that he would favor and protect Abraham's descendants.AdditionallyThe context of this in Bible in book of Genesis shows an everlasting covenant between God and all of Abraham's descendants for all generations and an everlasting possession of the land of Canaan.Genesis 17:4-8"As for me, this is my covenant with you: You will be the father of many nations. No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations. I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you. The whole land of Canaan, where you now reside as a foreigner, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you; and I will be their God."

Would the meaning of the phrase change if it read father of all the nations instead of father of all nations?

No

Is God a father who keeps his promises?

Of corse he keeps promises don't litsin to that freak who says 2012 is the end don't listin to him litsin to God the Father!God and Jesus are a mythical as Zeus and Appollo. The bible was written by sand strewn men who would have thought that a wheelbarrow was a magnificient breakthrough in technology. And as far as keeping his promises...why is it that the only way we will ever find out , is to die.My father would never have condoned slavery, yet god does. yes, it says so right in the bible.Believing in god is like believing in the words of the KKK. the only difference is that the KKK really exists.Answer:Yes. God's promise covers God's future plan for all the nations of the earth and focuses on the gifts and deeds God will bestow on a few to benefit the many. The gifts include; He would be their God, they would be His people, and He would dwell in their midst. In Genesis, the promise of God is represented by the successive blessings announced both in the created order and on the human family, even in spite of their sin. The fathers of Israel (Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob) received a triple promise that include the promise of a seed or offspring, the promise of land, and the promise of blessing on all nations. God sealed the promise with Abraham in a rite in which only God passed between the pieces (Gen. 15:9-21) thus obligating Himself to fulfill His promises without simultaneously and similarly obligating Abraham and the subsequent beneficiaries of the promise. The promise was eternal. Do not believe anything you have read above. This is another dillusional person whose parents have convinced them of a deity that does not exist. Quite simply , is their really is a God, like the one above, why would he allow billions of others around the globe to worship their own particular God. when is the human race finally going to realize that all gods and all religions are myths. Time to stop asking some higher power to forgive us when we are bad, and thanking them when something good happens in our lives. People who believe in any god , are very weak people.

What was Abraham and part of the covenant?

The Abrahamic Covenant was a three-fold promise. First God promised to make Abraham a great nation by blessing him and all of his descendants and cursing all those who cursed them. Then God promised Abraham and his descendants all of the land Of Israel, which ranged from the Nile Delta to the Euphrates River. Finally God promised of to make Abraham the father of many nations, and to make decedents so numerous that they would be like the stars in the sky (uncountable).
