Then Octavian came on the scene and after a bumpy relationship with Marc Antony, they joined forces in a war of vengeance against Caesar's killers. Eventually, Antony and Octavian had a war for supremacy, which was a civil war in all but name. It was thirteen years after Caesar's death that this last war took place.

There was a string of wars after Caesar's death. The first one was between Marc Antony and Octavian. They reconciled and joined forces to hunt down Caesar's killers. This was war number two. War number three was against Antony and Cleopatra, but before that there were other wars by both Octavian and Antony in the parts of the empire that they controlled.
