He stayed in small places while he was making the transformation away from people. he did not kill anyone during that time. after he became a full vampire, he decided not to kill humans, but to kill animals. He went to school and became a doctor. the very first person he made a vampire was Edward Cullen who was in the hospital bed in front of him about to die. carlisle turned him. so from then on he turned Esme and then rosalie, and emmet.
