John Fitzgerald "Jack" Kennedy, the 44th President of the United States married Jacqueline Bouvier. They were married on September 12, 1953 in Newport Rhode Island, at St Mary's Catholic Church.
Five years following President Kennedy's assassination Mrs Kennedy married Aristotle Onassis, a wealthy Greek shipping magnate. Although not publicly stated, it was understood that an element of the marriage was able to provide the privacy and security she needed for herself and her children.
