World War II was inevitable, due to the failure of the League of Nations in WWI and the collapsing of the Weimar Republic, a makeshift democratic government in Germany formed under the Treaty of Versailles. Once the Republic failed, Hitler rose to power and expressed desire in total control over Europe. The immediate cause of World War II was on September 1, 1939, when Hitler invaded Poland after signing an agreement stating that he would not.
