∙ 13y agoAs is made obvious by the last thing you see in the Avatar series, Katara realizes her love for Aang. They eventually marry and have a son, Tenzin. He is an airbender, and he teaches the next Avatar.

Yes, actually he does because he looks at her with loving faces. If you watch "Avatar Extras" the first episode "The boy in the iceburg" when ang wakes up in Katara's arms it says "Love at First Sight." Plus Aang kissed her first in "Day of Black Sun, Part 1, The Invasion." Throughout the series he was seen to have a major interest in Katara. In "The Fortuneteller" Meng was upset because her crush, Aang didn't have feelings for her, instead for the "beautiful Water Tribe girl."

Why did the writers of Avatar the Last Air Bender not put zuko and Katara together?
My theory is Aang is too fragile of a soul to get his heart broken. He might kill himself because he can't take rejection. Katara needs a man! Gosh, they're so perfect for each other. Katara's so pretty, and powerful. Zuko deserves her. What kind of heartbreak has Aang dealt with? None! It's his own fault his race is extinct and he's just mad at himself. Zuko, when very young, had good morals but his father warped them into evil, along with his face. Zuko needs forgiveness more than Aang. Zuko needs and loves Katara.
