The First Continental Congress drew up a statement known as the Declaration and Resolves of the First Continental Congress, also known as the Declaration of Colonial Rights, or the Declaration of Rights in 1774. It was similar to the Declaration of Rights and Grievances, but that document was drafted by a different group earlier, in 1765.
God according to Jefferson and Locke gives man his rights. Yet it is up to man to institute government.

Jefferson stated in the Declaration that people had the God given rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This was not meant to be liberal, but more an idea. Happiness can not be guaranteed and it is up to the individual to make themselves happy. People have choice and according to the Declaration man institutes government to do his work.
The word used, as an example, in the Declaration of Independence is: Unalienable.
The primary belief, as written by Jefferson and John Locke, is that man is given natural rights by God and that he forms governments to protect these rights. When the government no longer serves to protect the God given rights, then, man has the right to change the government. Jefferson lists the charges against the Kings backing up the assertion that the King is no longer protecting the rights of man.
The Magna Carta
The declaration of rights and grievances drawn up by the First Continental Congress is known as the "Declaration of Rights and Grievances." Adopted in October 1774, it outlined the colonies' objections to British policies and asserted their rights, including the demand for representation in Parliament. This document served as a pivotal step toward colonial unity and resistance against British rule.
It was called the Bill of Rights passed on the 16 December 1689.
The idea of the Declaration is just what it sounds like. It DECLARED INDEPENDENCE for the colonies, making them states and free from Great Britain. The Constitution was developed to outline the Government for the new country, and was created after the declaration.
Declaration of IndependenceThe United States Declaration of Independence was influenced by the 1581 Dutch Republic declaration of independence, called the Oath of Abjuration. The Kingdom of Scotland's 1320 Declaration of Arbroath was undoubtedly also an influence as the first known formal declaration of independence. Jefferson is also thought to have drawn on the Virginia Declaration of Rights, which had been adopted in July 1776.
