The Valentine's Day card, as it is know in the US, was invented in Worcester, Massachusetts in the 1800's. There are several displays at the Worcester Historical Society that illustrate the history. Worcester is located approx. 50 west of Boston, in central Massachussetts' Blackstone River Valley. It is also home to Clark University, Holy Cross College, the Smiley Face logo, the birth control pill, modern rocketry, and countless genetic breakthroughs.
