William Jennings Bryan (1860-1925) was a Congressman from Nebraska, three-time presidential candidate (1896, 1900, and 1908), and later Secretary of State under President Woodrow Wilson. He was considered the finest orator of the time, with his famous Free Silver Party speech "You must not crucify mankind upon a cross of gold" his best known. However he died at age 65, certainly a non-youthful age.
