The first four Caliphs are the most trusted followers of the holy Prophet (SAW) who were elected by the majority vote of the holy Companions RA of the holy Prophet (SAW). For this they are called the Khulafai Rashideen.
Not all the Caliphs are the true successors of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Only first FOUR Caliphs are called Rashidoon - the Rightful Caliphs. Unfortunately, the caliphs after Hazrat Ali RAU didn't follow the teachings of Islam in letter and spirit. They can't be called the Rightful Caliphs.
Madina Munawra was the Capital of The Muslim State established by the holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW). The first three Rashidoon Caliphs remained here and are buried here.
The first Four Caliphs are termed "Rashidoon" the Rightful. The first two were the Fathers-in-Law of the Holy Prophet SAW and his closest friends and associates. The latter two were the Sons-in-Law of the holy Prophet SAW. The first three were agreed upon by all Muslims (Companions), the fourth Hazrat Ali RAU was disputed as he became Caliph in very disturbed days of Islam.
The successors to the Prophet Muhammad were called the Caliphs. Muhammad's father-in-law, Abu Bakr, was elected as the first Caliph. Then came Umar and Uthman. The fourth Caliph was Ali ibn Abi Talib, the cousin and son-in-law to Muhammad, whom the Shi'ites believe to have nominated Ali to be his immediate successor. Disagreement over the succession became a major cause of friction and led to the division of Islam along Sunni and Shia lines.
Only the first Four Caliphs are called the Rightly Guided Caliphs because they were the most near ones and loved ones of the Holy Prophet SAW. They ruled according to the teachings of the Qur'an and the Sunnah.
The caliphs are the successors of prophet Mohammed (SAW).
As I believe, Qualities of four Caliphs.Abu Bakr Siddiue (R.A) - Friendship, Approach, CourageUmar (R.A) - Self-DisciplineUsman Ghani (R.A) - Will Power and DeterminationAli (R.A) - KindnessAnswer 2According to Shia Islam the first 3 of them have not been legimate Caliphs. because in Shia Islam Caliph is representative of God on earth and only God has the right to select his representative according to Quran. and God did not elect those first 3.
