The House of Representatives "accuses" an official of wrongdoing by bringing articles of impeachment against him (or her). If a simple majority of the House votes for impeachment (to bring charges against), then the official would go on trial in the Senate.Article I of the Constitution gives the House of Representatives the sole power of impeachment.

Yes. Impeachment does not mean to be removed from office, it means to have charges brought against the elected official.
The term impeachment means to charge a public official with a criminal act, and remove them from office.
Impeachment. Only the House of Representatives can impeach the president, and the impeachment is just the bringing of charges against the president. The Senate and the Senate alone then decides whether or not the president is guilty. Clinton was impeached, but was not found guilty by the Senate.
Impeachment is a power that allows formal charges to be brought against the President or other civil officer in a governing position. The power of impeachment lies in the House of Representatives and not the Senate. In return the Senate has the power to try the impeachment. The removal of the impeached official also lies in the Senate. Keep in mind that impeachment does not necessarily mean the removal of the official. It just means that charges have been brought onto the official.
