In Australia taxes are paid to pay for social infrastructure such as roads schools, hospitals, the army police courts etc, And ultimate power lays in the constitution. That is the behaviour of politicians is limited by the rules set out in the constitution. Socialism is not a form of government. socialism is a frame work of social accountability among the citizens of a country that goes further then just fighting for your country to protect the lifestyle of the wealthy. Socialism can be run under any form of political administration.
