Who invented the coffee grinder?

The coffee plant is said to originate from the highland forests of Ethiopia. The plants were found growing wild in the region of Kaffa where the word coffee is derived from. Exactly when coffee was discovered is unknown. The beans were used to make an "energy food" before they were actually brewed as a hot drink perhaps between 500-900AD. Others claim that coffee originated on the Arabian Peninsula rather than Ethiopia , and that coffee was cultivated in Yemen from around 575AD. Either way, the coffee bean itself was ground with a mortar and pestle type devise or simply pounded between two rocks. Boiling the berries to soften them was the start of drinking the brew. Coffee was probably not really enjoyed as a hot beverage until the 10th Century. The oldest known documents describing the beverage coffee were written then. Two Arabian philosophers: Rhazes (850-922AD), and Avicenna of Bukham (980-1037AD); both refer to a drink called "bunchum", that is believed to be coffee.

By the late 16th Century, the use of coffee was common throughout Arabia, North Africa and Turkey . The nutritional benefits of coffee were thought to be so great that coffee was as important as bread and water. Grinding was still done by crude means, by hand and rough.

Spice grinders were the first step towards the mechanical coffee grinder and are believed to have been produced as early as the 14th century in Europe. The first know coffee grinder was mass produced in the early 1800's in France but the inventor is unknown.
