JEHOVAHAs God inspired those who wrote The Bible books & letters, we can be sure about what is written in Isaiah 42:8:
I am Jehovah. That is my name; and to no one else shall I give my own glory, neither my praise to graven images.
- New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures.
The Pronunciation of Gods NameMany dispute the name as they say it is impossible to know because the vowels in the Hebrew language are unknown. So to know how the name Jehovah came to light we have to know the basic background on the pronunciation:

"Jehovah" is the best known English pronunciation of the divine name, although "Yahweh" is favored by most Hebrew scholars. The oldest Hebrew manuscripts present the name in the form of four consonants, commonly called the Tetragrammaton (from Greek te‧tra-, meaning "four," and gram′ma, "letter"). These four letters (written from right to left) are יהוה and may be transliterated into English as YHWH (or, JHVH).
The Hebrew consonants of the name are therefore known. The question is, Which vowels are to be combined with those consonants? Vowel points did not come into use in Hebrew until the second half of the first millennium C.E. Furthermore, because of a religious superstition that had begun centuries earlier, the vowel pointing found in Hebrew manuscripts does not provide the key for determining which vowels should appear in the divine name.

Several translations do still use the Divine Name, such as the "King James Version" and the "New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures". In the Hebrew Scriptures the New World Translation contains the divine name 6,973 times. Most bible translations do not however show the Divine Name. They do sometimes write a note that where one reads LORD in small cap. one has to read Yahweh or Jehovah.

Invented or removed? The question is not, who invented the name Jehovah, but who is responsible of the fact that the Divine Name has disappeared in almost all bible translations?

This can be dated back to our first century. Flavius Josephus, a Hebrew Historian, wrote that he was not allowed to use the Divine Name. (Jewish Antiquities, II, 276 [xii, 4])

For sure we can say that Jesus and his disciples still used Gods distinctive Name. I.e.:
Jesus' own name means "Jehovah Is Salvation." He stated: "I have come in the name of my Father" (John 5:43); he taught his followers to pray: "Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified" (Mathew 6:9); his works, he said, were done "in the name of my Father" (John 10:25); and, in prayer on the night of his death, he said he had made his Father's name manifest to his disciples and asked, "Holy Father, watch over them on account of your own name" (John 17:6, 11, 12, 26). In view of all of this, when Jesus quoted the Hebrew Scriptures or read from them he certainly used the divine name, Jehovah. (Compare Mathew 4:4, 7, 10 with Deuteronomy 8:3; 6:16; 6:13; also Mathew 22:37 with Deuteronomy 6:5; and Mathew 22:44 with Psalm 110:1; as well as Luke 4:16-21 with Isaiah 61:1, 2.) Logically, Jesus' disciples, including the inspired writers of the Christian Greek Scriptures, would follow his example in this.
Why, then, is the name absent from the extant manuscripts of the Christian Greek Scriptures or so-called New Testament? Evidently because by the time those extant copies were made (from the third century C.E. onward) the original text of the writings of the apostles and disciples had been altered. Thus later copyists undoubtedly replaced the divine name in Tetragrammaton form with Ky′ri‧os and The‧os′. This is precisely what the facts show was done in later copies of the Septuagint translation of the Hebrew Scriptures.

God himself has introduced himself by the name "Jehovah"In Exodus 3:13-16 we read a part of the well known dialog between Jehovah and Moses:
Moses said to the [true] God: "Suppose I am now come to the sons of Israel and I do say to them, 'The God of YOUR forefathers has sent me to YOU,' and they do say to me, 'What is his name?' What shall I say to them?" At this God said to Moses: "I SHALL PROVE TO BE WHAT I SHALL PROVE TO BE." And he added: "This is what you are to say to the sons of Israel, 'I SHALL PROVE TO BE has sent me to YOU.'" Then God said once more to Moses: "This is what you are to say to the sons of Israel, 'Jehovah the God of YOUR forefathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob, has sent me to YOU.' This is my name to time indefinite, and this is the memorial of me to generation after generation. You go, and you must gather the older men of Israel, and you must say to them, 'Jehovah the God of YOUR forefathers has appeared to me, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, saying: "I will without fail give attention to YOU and to what is being done to YOU in Egypt.
- New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures.
Clearly the bible, which is God's word, gives evidence that Jehovah is the Name that God Himself has introduced to mankind. Not only to Moses, but to several writers of the Bible. A superstition arose among the Jews that prohibited them from pronouncing the divine name, Jehovah. (Hence that Flavius Josephus wrote that he was not to use the Divine Name) So it became their custom that while reading the Holy Scriptures, whenever they came to the name "Jehovah," they pronounced "Adho‧nai", which means "Lord." In some places they even altered the original Hebrew text from "Jehovah" to 'Adho‧nai′.
Christendom followed the same course. They replaced the name Jehovah with "God" (or "Allah" in the Qor'an) and with "Lord." That contributed to the development of the false doctrine of the Trinity, which has no basis in the Holy Scriptures. Because of this, millions mistakenly worship Jesus and the holy spirit and consider them equal to God.
Hence, the leaders both of Judaism and of Christendom share the blame for the widespread ignorance concerning the greatest name. But God himself has prophesied: "I shall certainly sanctify my great name, . . . and the nations will have to know that I am Jehovah." Yes, he will make his name known among all the nations, because he is not the God of the Jews, or of any other nation; he is the God of all mankind.-Ezekiel 36:23; Genesis 22:18; Psalm 145:21; Malachi 1:11.

No the name was definitely not invented, but made known to mankind by God himself.
