John Cabot ( Giovanni Caboto) , was an Italian explorer, commissioned by King Henry (VII) to sail from Bristol to search the North Atlantic/Americas.
In his second voyage 1498 is discovered a new-found-land, which we know today as 'Newfoundland' , Canada.
The pronunciation of his name in English was ' 'Cah-Bow' .
Ferdinand Magellan, was commissioned by the King of Spain to find a way to the orient/China by going west towards America. He was not able to enter the Pacific Ocean until he found the now known as Straits of Magellan, named after him.
They were two different men , exploring different parts of the world.
