Haj Amin al-Husseini was the Mufti of Jerusalem, appointed by the British Mandate of Palestine in 1921. After the Arab riots of 1936, the British forced him to leave the country. Thereafter, al-Husseini devoted himself to championing Nazi ideals amongst Muslims and supporting Hitler throughout World War II. One of the devastating effects of his actions was the Farhud of 1941 - a pogrom against the Jews which took place in Iraq.

This is controversial at best. However, Islam is not inherently tolerant of non-Muslims and it calls for the aggressive domination of all people and lands to its submission. There is no doubt about this from Koranic hadiths. There are radical and extremist groups that claim Islam as their justification, but they are not to be confused with the standard practice of Islam as a peaceful religion. It is important to avoid discrimination against any people because of the acts of a few. Hitler did have a connection with an Islamic leader, Haj Amin al-Husseini; however, this is not widely discussed. The anti-semitic policies and ideology of Hilter are clearly seen in the Middle East and some Muslim states. Iranian state policy is a prime example.
