Laura Pettitt was a 27 year old nursery school manager from Bromley in Kent, who was prosecuted in March 2010 for allegedly having abused a number of small children in her care at the 'Little Stars' nursery in Bromley. The abuse she is said to have inflicted included shaking the children, physical violence, smothering them with blankets and making them eat their own vomit. However, at her trial she was cleared on all counts of child abuse and allowed to return to her job.
Laura is a lesbian, and the charges brought against her were later believed to have been a smear campaign by homophobic members of her nursery school staff.
Laura Pettit is also the name of a 54-year old photographer and painter from Alabama in the USA, who has her own website.
