Marther Luther King Jr. was one of the first ones to act up against the treatment of the black African American society. He gave speeches and led protests against the harm and meanness toward African Americans. We celebrate in his honor because without him, African Americans could still be treated harmfully like they did back then. Basicly he was the one who gave the African Americans courage to fight and to have hope.
