Max Von Laue [October 9, 1879-April 8, 1960] was a Noble Prize winner in Physics, in 1914. He received the award for his discovery and proof of the electromagnetic nature of X-rays. Additionally, he was a professor and researcher of Physics at Universities in Germany and Switzerland.

As a student, Von Laue had excelled at chemistry, mathematics, and physics at the Universities of Berlin, Göttingen, and Strassburg. As a Professor, he accepted research and teaching positions at the University of Zurich in Switzerland and at the German Universities of Würzburg, Franfurt on Main, and most enduringly Berlin. At the same time, he juggled other, excellent learning and working arrangements. For example, he assisted influential Quantum Theorist Max Planck [April 23, 1858-October 4, 1947] and 21st Century Genius Albert Einstein [March 14, 1879-April 18, 1955].

Physicists deal with the laws of motion. And therein lies an irony of Von Laue's life. The scientist was said to have had a great love for driving his motor bicycle and car. And it was in his beloved car that Von Laue suffered fatal injuries from a collision with a motor cyclist whose license was just two days old.
