One of the many country artist that I could list would include the Queen of Country Music, Kitty Wells. Long before Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette, and the girl singers to follow them, Kitty was the first major female solo star in country music. It was Kitty Wells that kicked down the doors for the women to enter through, because up until the 1950's the industry was considered, "a mans world only."

Kitty has always been a good, kind and Christian lady. She loves her fans and they returned their love to her. In 1952 Kitty signed with DECCA Records, and released, "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels." The record was a smash hit (selling over 1 million copies ~ the first for a female in country music), and led to her becoming a member of the Grand Ole Orpy. Over the years Kitty Wells charted 70 records. 23 of them went to #1, whereas 35 scored in the Top 10 Range.

Kitty Wells has won a countless number of industry awards. She retired from the road in 2000. She's now 90 Years old (born August 30, 1919, in Nashville, Tennessee). She became a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1976.
