The Attorney General of the United States is the U.S.' chief law enforcement officer and the chief lawyer for the U.S. government. The AG is the senior executive in and of the United States Department of Justice. The AG is a member of the President's Cabinet, advising the President on legal issues concerning the American state. The Attorney General does not advocate for the executive branch before the Supreme Court of the United States--that is done by the Solicitor General.
