∙ 13y agoDomestic tourism describes the process of visiting famous sites within one's own country. For example, an American living in California could visit Yosemite Park (just within one's own state) or travel around the country visiting other famous sites such as Seattle's Space Needle, the city of New Orleans, or view the beautiful fall colors of the northeastern USA (Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire). Domestic, in this sense, refers to one's own country. A Parisian taking a domestic tour might visit Cote d'Azur (Mediterranean Sea) or Arles in southern France.

More needs to be done in those categories for international tourists. There is more competition for international tourists so a lot needs to be done to entice them to come to a country. International tourists generally have more money to spend, so they are good to get. For these and many other reasons, countries put more effort into international tourists.
