Yes. There were originally going to be only two installments, but they have now been stretched to three. They are: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012) The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (set to come out December 2013) The Hobbit: There and Back Again (in theory coming out sometime in 2014)
Not yet, but it is coming. It is actually going to be two movies. The Hobbit is currently scheduled for release December 2011, with its sequel following in December 2012.
It is going to be filmed at the same time as another Tolkien based movie (I can't find what it is, perhaps something from the Tolkien Reader?) and The Hobbit is going to be released in 2011. Based on that, I would suspect filming is beginning very soon.
