If you mean helping to solve the problem of blood diamonds, it's a consumer's responsibility to verify that a diamond is not a blood diamond, by demanding certification from the seller showing the provenance of the stone before purchasing it.

Generally, the Kimberly Process is applied to stones mined in Africa. Stones mined in Australia, India, Brazil and Canada have certification processes that also verify that their diamonds are not 'blood diamonds'.
