Illinois has a sitting POTUS that was a former US Senator from Illinois and a First Lady from Illinois all of whom 'represent' Illinois. To some extent The Land of Lincoln is represented best by visions of Black Hawk, the power of Chicago's Richard Daley, the corrupting influence of Al Capone, and the long history of political corruption culminating in the pending impeachment of Governor Rod Blagonjevich. Who really represents Illinois in 2009 will be left for future historians to sort out. A good bet would be that while Lincoln is and should always be a mainstay, Al Capone will forever represent Chicago at its worst.
