W S Fisher is a NW Poet known for readings at the UW Castalia Reading Series reading series in the mid to late 90's and early 2000s. As a student of the UW at he was a student of Nelson Bentley Phd who partrticipated along with the internationally renowned NW Poet Theodore Roethke in the Neoromantic movement in poetry from the 50's - to present. The Neoromantic movement like the Romantic movement in Europe earlier emphasized human kinds dependence and connection with Nature. In the contemporary NW, the link also led to strong influences from the Pacific Rim literary and artistic influences, specifically Asian literature and poetry.
Fisher graduated from Ia State University in the late 70's and studied there under known Poet and literary critic Melvin Wilk PhD. Fisher has been published in the US and Europe on various literary zines from the popular Los Angelas zine 'Poetic Diversity', the New York Jewish Urban Journal 'The Blue Jew Yorker' and the Avante Guard and often abused and brief European journal 'Sein Und Werden / Kiss The Witch' among others. Fisher throughout his life has been involved in migrant issues and currently lives in the NW.
