this confused me too. liam neeson (under the fake name henri ducard) said to bruce wayne that the man played by ken watanabe was ra's al ghul. he later revealed at the dinner party scene that he (liam neeson) was actually ra's al ghul himself. i never even caught it when i watched the movie, soooo...yeah Liam Neeson played the part of Henri Ducard who is in fact Ra's al Ghul a Batman villain (according to the writer David Goyer the most complex). The revelation that this character is the main villain was meant to shock. Ken Watanabe was cast as a decoy for Ra's al Ghul.
