Car insurance typically follows the owner of the vehicle, not the driver. In the cae of an "excluded driver", unless that driver has his own policy that assumes coverage for a "borrowed" car, the original vehicle owner would be considered pursuable as an uninsured motorist.

Does it cost more to excluded driver?

Having a person on your car insurance listed as an excluded driver can actually save money rather than cost more. The excluded driver will need no coverage or liability when it comes to the vehicle they are listed for.

Can you hold a person liable if person is excluded on insurance an gets into wreck?

What do you mean hold them liable. If you gave them permission to drive your vehicle and you had excluded them on your policy, the insurance company will not pay any part of the claim. More than likely you, as owner of the vehicle will be the primary target. If the accident involves another car you will be primarily responsible for their damages and injuries as well as the damage to your vehicle. You can try to implicate the driver but it is your vehicle, your insurance and exclusion that you signed, and you gave this person permission to drive your vehicle, knowing what you do about them.

Do you need auto insurance when you don't own a car?

not generally.........insurance stays with the car...............in other words, unless you or ''other drivers'' are excluded from a vehicle policy, whomever drives that vehicle WITH PERMISSION is an ''insured driver'' of that vehicle.

What does excluded driver mean on policy?

One of my family members was hit by a driver who carried insurance but was an "excluded" driver on the policy of the car she was driving. After talking to the other person's insurance company, an excluded driver is essentially equivalent to an uninsured motorist. That means that his/her insurance company will not represent them and that, if they are liable for the accident, your insurance company can go after them personally for the damages.

Can an insurance company put someone on your insurance without your permission?

Technically yes and no. While they can't actually add the driver, they can rate the insurance coverage as if that person would be driving a vehicle. For example, if you had a child who had just gotten their license, and you named them as an excluded driver of your vehicle, yet they somehow managed to get into a small wreck and have to file a claim, your insurance carrier would likely deny the claim on the basis that the driver was excluded, as well as rate your policy as if they were going to be driving the vehicle, without actually adding them. Moral of the story... don't lie to your insurance company.

How do you recover losses from an accident when your insurance ran out and the other driver will not accept responsibility?

In this case, the driver is not responsible, it is the owner of the vehicle that is responsible. It is his car and his responsibility to make sure that all drivers of his vehicle are insured when they drive the vehicle. You need to call one of those lawyers who advertise on TV. The owner of the car is responsible and if the driver was excluded from the policy but was allowed to drive the car anyway, you can have his house, car, and all his wages for the next 100 years, and probably the same from the driver. But when you win the case, they'll declare bankruptcy and you'll probably never collect.

What can you do if you are hit by another driver and got their license number and the police charged them but their insurance will not pay because the owner says a friend was driving the vehicle?

It shouldn't matter who was driving. The insurance company is responsible for the VEHICLE not the driver.

Who is responsible for a no insurance ticket on a borrowed car The driver or owner?

Each could be ticketed. The driver for no insurance, and the owner for allowing unlawful operation. In the UK both are equally responsible for 'using a motor vehicle on a road without insurance' and both will be prosecuted.

Would a excluded driver be cover if not driving and riding as a passenger in his employers vehicle?

Being named as an excluded driver means that you are not covered as the driver, and are not allowed to drive that vehicle. It doesn't mean that you can't be a passenger in the vehicle. If you were a passenger and were injured your injuries should still be covered under the insurance (whether or not the driver was your employer). If you were working at the time you may be eligible for workers compensation, also, but at the least your injuries should be covered.

What if an excluded driver has an accident in your car in Michigan?

If an excluded driver is driving any vehicles on said policy there is effectively no coverage. This means no liability/property damage/collision. The driver is At Fault in the accident regardless of circumstances. They are responsible for 100% of damages, medical and property even in a No-Fault state. They will also be required to file an FR 22 for a period of years. It will cost a minimum of thousands of dollars for the excluded driver and the insured. Example: Excluded driver is involved in a collision with a teenage driver who runs a stop sign. The teenage driver needs to be hospitalized and cared for due to intensive medical problems. The parents of the driver sue the excluded driver and the owner of the vehicle for all medical costs. $300,000. -Insurance Agent P&C

Can you drive a car if you are a excluded driver but you have your own insurance policy on a different car?

If you are excluded as a driver on a policy that means that no coverage for any type of claim will be paid on any vehicles on that policy. It also means that the insurance company will not pay for anyone else's damages caused by the excluded driver. Excluded mean no coverage at all.
